Thank you for visiting our website and that you are interested in the power of a Sak Yant. A Sak Yant is not just a tattoo. A Sak Yant  is mythical and you don't decide to get a Sak Yant tattoo, suitable just for you, just like that.

A Sak Yant tattoo is never a "picture" you choose randomly but is meant to be perfectly tailored to your needs and life. Once the tattoo is placed it is part of your daily life, identity - and spiritual experience.  The mythical message in your Yant is private and for Thai Tattoo this will stay that way. The translation of symbolic texts of your tattoo to Khom and Sanskrit script as well as placing any desired symbols are no problem at all and without extra costs.

When desired, Tattooing is done in accordance with the rituals as is customary in Thailand.

Thai Tattoo's unique collection contains over 260 original Thai Tattoo Sak Yant designs and even antique Yants on bark and fabrics.

Thai Tattoo only tattoos Sak Yant in Khom. We can't and won't do anything else. There are plenty of good colleagues where you can get a beautiful old school, Japanese or tribal tattoo

On the picture below the "Ha Taew 5 row Yant", made famous by Angelina Jolie, which we placed, in the original traditional but personalized form, on a beautiful person.

1. The first row prevents unjust punishment and leans in your favour when the area is grey, cleans out     unwanted spirits and protects the place you live in.

2. The second row reverses and protects against bad horoscope constellations and bad fortune.

3. The third row protects you from the use of black magic and anyone who tries to put a curse on you.

4. The fourth row energizes your good luck, success and fortune in your future ambitions and life style.

5. The fifth row is to gain charisma and attraction to the opposite sex. It is also is a boost to the fourth     row.

Once a year a friendly Thai monk is present in our studio as guest artist. Thai Tattoo lived with the Thai for more than 15 years and became acquainted with the world inside the temple, the rituals, and the protective mystique of Sak Yant. Thai Tattoo got permission and blessing to tattoo Sak Yant. Thai Tattoo worked in Hua Hin and Bangkok, amongst others.

Thai tattoo works by appointment only so that you will receive all the time and attention you need. There are up to two visitors allowed in the studio, so feel free to bring your partner or companion, who of course is very welcome.

Sak means "tapping" or "tattooing", and Yant is derived from Yantra, which means "sacred geometrical design”.

For hundreds of years Thai and Khmer warriors were renowned and feared  for their magical patterns on their skin.

These patterns were a mixture of Buddhist psalms and prayers, and shamanistic sayings and magic that had survived the religious transition from the pre-Buddhist Hindu era and were incorporated into the belief system of the reborn Buddhist countries. Since the time of King Naresuan, in the golden age of Ayutthaya, Thai soldiers have sought protection in the power of Sak Yant, and in wearing and praying to amulets .

In World War II and the Vietnam war the allied troops nicknamed Thai soldiers "Taharn Phee" (ghost soldiers), because of their Sak Yant tattoos and amulets.

Many Muay Thai boxers ("Nak Muay") seek the magical powers that Sak Yant tattoos are said to give them.

There are countless stories of people who have miraculously escaped from serious injury from traffic accidents, violent robberies, stabbings and even gunshots. For example, there is a story of a former British soldier, who, when he served in Iraq,  was struck on his helmet by a bullet, which ricocheted without piercing it. He is convinced that this was caused by his Yants, which he had received from Archarn Anek.

A Yant is a sacred geometric design that provides protective forces and various blessings through Buddhist psalms and magical formulas. The Buddhist psalms that are written in Khom or Khmer script around these Yants are known as "kata". In the western world, a kata is also known as "mantra". "Mantra" is a Sanskrit word that means "prayer" .

Common designs which are often tattooed on the back:

Yant Sarigaa Kuu (a couple of lovebirds)

Yant Paed Tidt (Yant with eight directions)

Yant Moo Tong Daeng (wild boar)

Yant Hanuman (monkey general)

Yant Ngob Nam Oy (round compassion yantra for the shoulder blades)

Yant Maha Ud (square or triangular bulletproof Yant)

Yant Suea Paen (leaping tiger

Yant Hongs/Hongsa (peacock)

Yant Mae Tap (protective Yant - small pyramid-like design for the lower back)

Yant Puttsoorn (concentric inscription of five Buddhas - a favorite of HP Phern)

What meaning do the different types Yant have? A good understanding will increase the power of the Yant. The lines that are drawn in the Yant represent the umbilical cord of the Buddha, and are traditionally known as' the bones of the Yant'. There are many different types of Yantra, such as: the round Yant, triangular and four-sided Yant. There are even illustrated Yants.

Round Yant - represents the face of the Buddha (Pra Pact Pra Putta Jao) in the Brahmanical tradition, with Brahma as meaning.

Triangular Yant - represents the three jewels of the Buddha Dharma and Sangha (Pra Put, Pra Tamm, Pra Songk). In the Brahmanical tradition, the three Lords of Heaven are applied as the meaning (Shiva Brahma, Vishnu).

Four-sided Yant - represents the four elements/continents (earth, water, air and fire).

Illustrated Yant - represents different angels, people and mystical creatures (Sathw Himapant).

Onk Pra represents the Buddha himself.

The symbol of the crescent moon, which is often seen above "Onk Pra", represents the moon which lights our way in our dark hours.

The small circle (sun symbol) which can be seen above many Yants represents the sun which lights our way during the day, and that all people and living beings exist under the influence of the stars and planets, and that these forces enable us to develop ourselves and bring change.

The spiral zigzag line above each Yant is called Unaalome. Unaalome represents the saints who have achieved the status of 'enlightened creatures'. The chains of desire have been disconnected and set aside ... These creatures don't become insecure on their path, like normal people do. The spiral in the middle represents the crown of the head of the Buddha. In short: The ultimate way to Nirvana.

All Yants are usually completed with the incantation of a mantra (Pra Kataa) in Pali Sanskrit, which is then blown into the Yant with your breath (called Phao Kataa/Puug Saeg).

Most Pra Kataa end with the phrase/saying "Ma AU".
